Tyre choicer is a very personal affair

It all depends what you need them for.

Race track? Go for slicks.

Touring? Take sport modern sports touring tyres. Very good overall performance, decent mileage.

Full attack? Take modern sports tyres. Short mileage, a few minutes to warm up, but afterwards excellent grip and feedback.

On real roads my wallet  prefers allround tyres like a Michelin Pilot Power (no CT): cheap, grippy, good on wet tarmac, excellent feedback, agile, long-lasting.

Hallo Günter,

why no CT ? okay the response on wet roads is not the best, anything else you could give a statement on, difference between the P P and the CT ?

thx

Hi,

before coming finally to a monster I was riding a BMW K1200R and I was a heavy PP supporter. Than my dealer talked me into trying out the CT. It simply didn't work out. I had shimmy even though the BMW had a damper. after just a few 100 km's I had to change back tp PP. Finally Michelin recognized it as well. They discontinued the CT and replaced it this spring. OK the BMW is much heavier than a Monster... The good old PP ist still available and still not bad.

The Pirelli Rosso II is really a great tyre...lots of grip in the dry...when it is wet, it is not the best tyre in the world, but still good enough ;-)

It is not an all weather-tyre nor a touringtyre...it is good, really good; but if you want to go lots of miles with a tyre, I think there are better tyres

Not sure if anyone still want to hear this, but tires are very important for me. I have done 10 thousends of k's on PP, but since I rode the BT16 I converted.

The PP does not have the traction/control under sudden braking (dog walks over the street- PP skids, BT lifts rear wheel). I must agree, the wear on the BT is much higher than on the PP! Anyway - I only do about 5 - 10 TKm per year, so the wear is really secondary to me. I need trust!

I have no experience with Pirelli, but I run out of riding time and to try stuff.

If you like a tire you trust, my vote is 100% BT16!

have fun,

Larry
